White UPVC double glazed windows

Double glazing installation in Enfield, north London.

Enfield Windows recently installed a set of new UPVC double glazed casement windows in the above property in Enfield, north London.  After a visit from our sales adviser, we were short listed with two other companies as potential candidates to replace the windows.

We are pleased to say that the customer chose Enfield Windows not only on the basis of price, but also on quality and service. Our double glazed windows are attractive, highly secure and significantly reduce noise pollution in the home.

Ovolo or Chamfered?

We offer two different profile styles for our double glazed windows and doors. The Ovolo frame, which has a curved design or a chamfered frame that is bevelled. The customer had decided on the chamfered window frame. This is a sleek alternative to the rounded Ovolo profile commonly used. For a detailed comparison please click on the picture above.

A survey was arranged and took place at an arranged date convenient to the customer. Once the survey was back in the office it was passed to our order processing team, where each detail and requirement was placed on order. While production commenced, the installation was booked and agreed by both Enfield windows and the customer.

The windows arrived and the installation took place and was completed within the four days scheduled.

The end result once again shows the quality of workmanship that our windows and installers can add to help transform your home.

Bifold doors open

Bifold door installation in London

One of our most recent projects was the undertaking of a large 6 part Set of Origin Bifolding doors with matching side lights and kitchen window. The client was spending a large amount of money on a high end kitchen refit. With the benefit of already having a large structural opening in situ the focus then turned to what could compliment the new kitchen design. To make the best use of the potentially large open space occupied by the current French doors and windows, after viewing some installations and reading through our web site a phone call was made, and we were invited to quote for the works.

On the first visit to the property we were told we were one of few local suppliers quoting for the contract. After going through various configuration options and discussing the products that would suit and ultimately make the best use of the potential space on offer it was decided the Origin easi fold doors would give the uniformed look the customer wanted to achieve. The perfect clinical profiles you get with aluminium products made them the ideal choice.

Design

The clients requested we remove the French door and windows, whilst also removing the brickwork under the windows to create a level surface running around the entire area.
After showing the client a CAD design of how the doors and windows would look, we went through the dimensions to determine the depth of the folds to neatly tuck into the recess either side of the wall. The decision was made, an internally opening six fold system with two side return windows replicating the doors themselves. With a white gloss finish inside and out, matching hardware and gaskets the order was placed, surveyed and signed off into production.

Installation

The installation took place over two days. We assigned two teams to ensure a smooth installation due to the amount of work involved. We had a one day window to secure the property after the opening had been prepared.

Day one

The objective was to remove the old timber frames and grind out the brickwork below the windows. We then had to install a 100mm thick steel RSJ which ran across the entire width of the doors to be supported by the load bearing corner posts and steel packers. This was a necessary precaution due to the timber construction of the roof and certainly would eliminate any risk of the framework above warping, moving or sagging over the coming years. This would inevitably affect the operation and functionality of the doors and potentially cause major disruption in future.

Day two

Our two teams concentrated on setting up the six doors to ensure the smooth gliding and locking operation associated with the Origin easi-fold system. There was also the kitchen window to be installed, plaster boarding, plastering, cleaning and sealing. We pride ourselves on the quality of our fitters and the speed at which they work.

Conclusion

As you can see from the pictures above we can’t imagine any products other than bifold doors occupying the space. They really do compliment a wonderfully modern kitchen and their functionality make the best use of the space available. The satisfied customer has the option to use the bifold system as French doors and open either side. However, it’s when the doors are fully folded back the connection to the garden and sense of openness really stands out. Bi-folding doors are such a great product for consumers and developers wishing to create an open contemporary space.

Timber sash windows

Timber sash and casement window installation

One of Enfield Windows recent installations was in the north Finchley area of London.

The customer was looking to completely overhaul the front of their property and decided to replicate the original windows with ‘like for like’ timber casements and vertical sliding sash windows.

Our timber in brief.

Enfield Windows timber products are amongst the best within their sector. We are proud to offer the latest in timber technology. All our frames are cross grained and are made up by using glued timber sections that are proven to resist warping, twisting and swelling. This also adds greater strength and durability.

Every window and door is factory finished with multiple levels of treatment and protection. The first layer is the fungal treatment that is moisture regulating and provides an adhesive surface for subsequent treatments with finishing paints and wood stains. There are then four primer coats and a further three coats of micro porous paint.

The finished result is a perfectly finished stunning window that cannot be replicated by onsite painting and staining. This is something that is standard practice with lesser quality timber products.

Both our sash and timber casements windows offer a 24mm argon filled double glazed unit offering warmth and security. We also have a large range of modern or contemporary furniture for whichever style suits your home.

The Project.

The first floor bathroom and three part bay were both to be casement windows with an arched sash design to match the originals. Along with the decorative timber heads we also replaced the lead flashing under the front bay sill. Downstairs, the front lounge bay was replicated with traditional timber hardwood sliding sashes. You can see in the before and after picture what an impact these elegant windows make at the front of the property.

Installation.

The installation took place over three days with the project running smoothly. As the pictures show, along with the re-painted rendering and tiles, the house now is a beautiful example of how the appearance of a home can be completely rejuvenated by choosing replacement timber windows.

Origin bifold door installation exterior

Origin Bifold Door Installation

Enfield windows very recently installed a set of Origin 4 part aluminium bi folding doors to a newly constructed extension in the Enfield area. This particular set were manufactured in a non-stock colour, 7031. Origin’s current lead time for primary stock colours is a five working day turnaround. For a non-stock colour they still have an industry leading turn around of twenty-one days.

The client, in this case, opted for a non-traffic door with the four folds all stacking over to one side. With this option, there is no need for lever handles. The doors are operated simply by rotating the ultra slim lever which in turn operates the dead bolts into the top and bottom of the frame.

Once the doors were installed our delighted customer could finally envisage a large part of how their new kitchen would appear when completed.  Their new doors will integrate the living space into the garden. This was a large part of what they wanted to achieve when first setting out to create a new open living space in their home.
