Residence 9 windows in north London

Residence 9 Window installation in Enfield, north London

One of Enfield Windows most recent projects was to replace all the windows in the house from original timber casement windows to a maintenance free window system. The client was aware of the Residence 9 window, a product relatively new to the industry.

Residence 9 (R9) offer a specialist frame that allows consumers to replicate the original look of timber casement windows but with a highly efficient, secure and maintenance free product. Such is the detail of the R9 windows they have been awarded with Conservation Approval. This means they can be used in homes where other uPVC windows would have been forbidden.

Unlike the mass produced uPVC systems produced by machinery, every R9 frame is bespoke and hand made from the frame to the glazing beads which is what gives these windows the look of a traditionally hand crafted window.

The project

For the windows the customer decided on white grain internally and externally with white gaskets and Georgian fan lights to match the original windows. The front door was from the Solidor range and the central glass was made bespoke to match the original front door. Photos of each unit were sent to our stained glass suppliers who replicated the originals to perfection as you can see in the pictures.

 Installation

The installation was carried out over four days during which time we carefully installed the windows to the highest standard. A further site visit was made to install the front door glass once it was completed from the suppliers. As a whole, the job ran smoothly from start to finish and as the finished pictures show the house now looks exactly how it did originally. However it now has added benefits of the warmth that the nine chambered “A rated” Residence 9 windows offer, and of course the paint free maintenance and security.

Timber windows installation

Timber window installation north London

One of Enfield windows most recent installations was to a property in the Palmers Green area of north London. With it’s strict conservation rules and regulations, the client wanted to ensure the new windows would be exact replicas of the originals.

Based on a friends recommendation the client contacted Enfield Windows. After inspecting the quality and craftsmanship of our engineered timber windows we were asked to quote for the project.

Quality materials

On visiting the client we explained the benefits of our timber windows over the more conventional timber windows on the market. Each timber window we supply and install is made from a sustainable Maranti Hardwood. Each frame section and opener is made up of multi layered timbers cross grained and glued. This gives the frame extra strength that helps resist any warping and twisting.

Painting process

Once the frame has been manufactured it goes into a spray booth where the process of adding various protective coats bases and finishes are applied. First is an Anti-Fungal protection coat that seals the bare wood, followed by numerous primer coats. The final finish coat is supplied by leading paint manufacturers Remmers. Their range of micro porous paint is the only paint finish which allows the timber to breathe and adjust to the conditions without cracking or peeling. The spraying process of our timber windows can take up to a week from first to final coat. This leaves a perfect, truly stunning factory finish every time.

Whilst taking the dimensions for the windows, we also offer our customers the option to supply a sample of architrave around 200mm to send to our manufacturers. This ensures a completely replicated finish.

Installation

The production time is generally around six to eight weeks during which time the installation is booked in ready to be installed within days of delivery. The installation itself was carried out over three days allowing enough time to carefully remove the old frames to minimize disruption internally and externally.

The finished result shows how Enfield Windows range of timber windows can enhance your home whilst retaining all of the original character.
