Bifold doors and skylight installation in Southgate, north London

Atlas sky light and Origin bi-fold door installation

Enfield windows recently under took an installation in Southgate, north London. We had been recommended to the customer by D.G.R Carpentry & Building, who use Enfield windows for many of their building projects.

The client’s aim was extend the rear of their property in order to create a new open plan kitchen diner. However they were conscious of the amount of light that would be available due to limited window space.

The solution was to install a modern contemporary skylight onto the flat roof which would enable light to flood into the rear end of the extension.

At Enfield windows we supply and install Atlas skylights. Unlike many roof lights on the market, Atlas skylights are fully aluminium and the roof bars have a sleek width of only 40mm which is something UPVC skylights can’t replicate.

The average roof bar on similar UPVC skylights is 60mm and in some cases 70mm. Also due to the design and strength in the structure there are no large bulk heads where the frames meet to a joint.

Atlas skylights are a great product that offers stylish and slim lines every time. Double glazed glass is standard, plus there is the option of triple glazed units. All glazing is self-cleaning and climate controlled glass in either Active blue or Neutral finishes.

Origin Bifold doors

A five part set of doors were chosen to run across the entire width of the extension in the ever popular Anthracite grey.

For those seeking to install bi-fold doors, Origin has become the leading brand and popular choice amongst many high end glazing companies who are striving to offer their clients the very best in bi-folding doors.

The majority of door manufacturers will only offer a ten year guarantee, but with Origin a twenty year guarantee is standard when installed by a qualified Origin installer. This guarantee covers all working parts – handles, hinges and locks which prove the build quality really is second to none.

Not only are these doors well engineered and aesthetically pleasing, the options Origin offer are unlike many other manufactures. There is a choice of colour coded or stainless steel handles and hinges and they also offer colour coded Q-Lon gaskets. These neatly hug around the frame of each door leaf. This advanced gasket has a foam filled centre unlike the rubber seals on other doors giving the doors a guaranteed tight snug seal every time they shut whilst also eliminating the natural compression and break down that often occurs on dense rubber seals.

As the pictures show, the doors and skylight are an integral part of the extension, flooding the room with light and creating a modern contemporary feel.

In our show room we have on display a fully working three and four part door along with the full origin colour and furniture range.

During the ordering process a member of our installations team called the client to suggest that colour coded gaskets and stainless hinges would be a better choice for the overall look and finish to which the customer agreed and the order was placed.

The diary was space was allocated and within three weeks of our survey the project was completed. Timber window installation in Winchmore Hill, north London

Enfield windows most recent installation was in Winchmore hill area of north London. We are proud to say that this was the third property within the same road in which we replaced the windows, using timber as the choice of material. This time Enfield Windows had been recommended by a previous client living next door.

We were asked to replace two large bay windows and one small front bay window with “like for like” using Hardwood Meranti timber. The project was quoted at a highly competitive rate beating our closest rival by over £1200.00 whilst still supplying the same product.

After the deposit was taken we arranged for the surveyor to visit and take accurate measurements for the order. Internal trims, windows boards and architraves were also measured to be replaced in factory finished timber.

The manufacturing process took approximately five weeks during which time we acquired the gold furniture fittings and scheduled the installation to be booked in on delivery of the frames.

The installers carried out the work over three and a half days and as the results show the new windows are another great addition, not only to the premises but also to the street.

Since the completion of this installation we have been invited to quote for works at another neighbouring property!

Commercial window R9 windows

Commercial windows installation in London

The London College of Fashion in Shoreditch, London

Enfield windows most recent commercial window installation was at the London College of Fashion, Shoreditch. We were invited to tender via email and ask to provide a detailed quotation for the windows to be replaced on the upper storey of the historic college.

Being situated in central London the college is steeped in history and due to it’s size and age it falls within conservation restrictions for historic London buildings. A total of thirteen windows were scheduled to be changed on the upper floor some 120ft up, with five of the windows having a height of over 3.5 meters. There was also other large frames windows, with three arched windows also part of the project.

Our installations manager and sales manager arranged to meet the contractors on site to take measurements in order to obtain an accurate competitive cost for the project. Maintenance and good insulation were high on the requirements for the project. The client and the college opted to go for the residence 9 windows.

Residence 9 windows

Residence 9 or R9 as they are also known, are fast becoming the popular choice for customers and clients wishing to update their original windows. Residence 9 windows are state of the art high performance replica UPVC windows. Their frames are entirely based on traditional windows but they offer as standard a 95mm deep frame, which is 25mm deeper than the standard UPVC window. This detail alone gives the glazing bars and frame more depth thus giving the window more character. A further advantage of a deep frame is it’s ability to offer an energy efficient nine chambers whereas typical UPVC offers between only three and seven chambers.

R9 windows are hand made from start to finish. Unlike standard UPVC windows, the frame section is mechanically joined. This form of manufacturing eliminates the need for heat machined welds typically found on the standard UPVC frames. Another significant detail is that these windows have the Conservation seal of approval.

After our proposal, a detailed an accurate cost was agreed by the college and client and we set about drawing up an order to go into manufacturing.

Installation

The time frame to carry out the scheduled installation was very tight. Every aspect of the project had to be diligently checked and confirmed before the order was signed off. One of the leading R9 manufacturers – WindowTech helped every step of the way. From detailed drawings of glass and astragal bar layouts to advice on the products limits and suitability plus working with us in scheduling the delivery of the frames to suit each phase of the installation as it took place.

Another requirement was to introduce Tele-flex for seven of the large windows. Tele-flex is a chain linked operating system that allows all unreachable or inaccessible openers to be operated by simply turning a low level handle which in turn is operated via a discreet chain directly to the window locking mechanism some 8ft up. Enfield Windows were responsible for overseeing this part of the project via a subcontractor chosen by ourselves to carry out the work.

Overall the installation was carried out over two weeks during which time the project was overseen by the directors and office staff who made regular site visits to ensure the project was on track

Further work

As a result of the work carried out Enfield Windows have been awarded a contract to carry out another phase on the upper floor level which will be surveyed this Sunday 31st May and is due to start early July.

Timber windows installation in London

Timber sash window installation in London

Our latest timber sash replacement window project was in the Harringay area of north London. Our client had recently moved to the area and after purchasing the property a new roof, new heating system and replacement windows were a priority.

The first point of contact was via our website and a consultation was scheduled by a member of the office to meet and discuss various options for the rear windows. The client also wanted to change her old timber French doors leading into the garden to timber with a panelled detail section at the bottom and an opening fan window above.

Whilst on the sales visit the client mentioned she was having the front windows replaced in timber with a quotation agreed by a supplier. Our sales representative offered to show the client our timber brochure and pictures from some of our recent timber installations with a view to offering a no obligation quote to try and better the original price she had received.

With the dimensions and specifics taken now for the both the front and rear windows our sales representative went away to accurately cost the windows required. A proposal was sent along with many production photos showing the complete process in which our timber sash windows are constructed and painted.

Huge savings!

As a result, Enfield Windows were able to save the client over a thousand pounds INCLUDING the three additional rear windows and the French door in the price!

A further visit to the showroom was arranged where the client requested to view the windows she would be purchasing for the front aspect of the property.
Once the order was confirmed the survey was scheduled to take the final and accurate dimensions for manufacturing. With only a six week lead time an installation date was agreed and the all the windows were installed over a five day period.

We are happy to say that the client was thrilled with her new windows and the service provided by Enfield Windows.

White sash timber windows

Sash timber window installation london

Sash timber window installation in Walthamstow, London.

One of our recent installations was to restore the character of a property undergoing a complete refurbishment in the Walthamstow area in London.

The style and level of refurbishment of the property warranted traditional sash style windows. The builder searched online for traditional timber style sash windows then arranged to meet our installations manager in the showroom to view our timber window range.

After approving the quality of finish and learning more from our staff about the process in which our timber sash windows are manufactured, the dimensions were given and a quotation was put into place.

All of our timber products come with a ten year warranty. This warranty covers not only the installation and hardware, but also unlike many other timber suppliers such is the advanced quality of finish we also are able to offer a ten year warranty on the paint!

In total the order was agreed for seven hardwood timber sash windows all to be installed at the front of the property. The furniture choice was satin chrome and all internal architraves and trims were factory finished.

The installation took place over three days where our installers worked at a pace to ensure the installation was carried out diligently and professionally.

As you can see, the windows installed surpassed the client’s expectations. The photos show how spending a little more when choosing your new windows can help play a massive part in complementing the property and bringing back the original character.

White timber windows

Timber windows installation in London

Timber sash and casement windows

Enfield windows recently undertook a project in the Finsbury Park area of London.

The client was refurbishing a large town house which also required new timber windows. After visiting our website they arranged a visit to our showroom. There, we discussed the various options available and the numerous benefits our hardwood window range offer.

After the plans for the project were sent to us, we were able to form an accurate and competitive proposal. The project consisted of thirteen timber sash windows, one timber casement window and French doors in RAL colour 9001. (An attractive cream)

With every timber project we undertake, liaising with our manufacturing partners is a key part of our success, every detail is planned and accurately executed. We offer clients the option of taking a small section of architrave from the original windows in the property to use for a near perfect match when producing the new factory finished trims. Often the window architraves will match with the existing internal door frames.

The character of a property and its heart often lies in the original door and window frames so keeping them accurately replicated is part of the attraction when using timber. With the added benefits of energy efficiency, safety and security, timber windows are becoming more and more popular around the London area.

 Installation

After our proposal was agreed, Enfield windows completed a detailed contract and a survey was booked. We made templates for all of the three front arched windows and sent these to our manufacturers. This ensures a perfectly accurate fit.

During the surveying process we often take various key photographs and specific details to create a file that contains all the information we need. This ensures every department within the company from ordering, manufacturing and installations are fully informed at every stage.

The installation was scheduled over six days with four installers on site to help. Having a large team of installers helps when some of the larger windows weighed in excess of 150kg.

As the pictures show, the new timber sash windows add a large part of the character to the now fully restored property. The clients were thrilled with their new timber windows and also commented on the additional warmth in every room and reduction in outside noise the new double glazed windows offer.

White UPVC bay window

Double glazing in Cuffley

Enfield windows most recent installation took place in Cuffley, Hertfordshire.

We were recommended to the client by the local estate agents, James Haywards, who are one of Enfield’s leading and most respected agents.

The client had recently moved into a property and wanted to replace the old timber and aluminium window frames and front door with new UPVC material and give the facade a complete makeover. The client’s desired option was white UPVC frames with equal sight lines and square leaded glass.

Our UPVC windows offer the very best in security. Every opening window comes with a ten multi-point locking system using arguably the country’s leading brand, Yale. With the inclusion of A-rated argon filled glass and a “Q-lon” gasket system, the Duraflex profile offer more details and specifications than many other profiles that flood the current market.

During the showroom visit the client viewed the myriad styles of composite front doors from the Solidoor range. With over five display doors and a fully working door system the choice made was ‘Chartwell Green’ an increasing popular colour, frequently being used to inject character to many properties.

Once the order was placed a detailed survey was booked in by a member of the team and the frames and door were ordered. The installation was scheduled in for two days during which time two site visits were made by our Installations manager, one on each day, to ensure customer satisfaction and the installation team had everything they required.

Installation

The job was ran smoothly and the client was more than happy with the work being carried out.  Each installation is overseen by a member of the installations department, ensuring our customers feel we are on hand, not just on point of sale but throughout the whole process.

The designated installation team, comprising of Danny and Aaron have twenty-five years of experience between them in the industry. They took great pride, care and attention in every aspect of the installation and we believe the finished result reflects this.
