Grey Origin bifold door

Origin Bifold doors, windows and Masterdor installation north London

Another recent installation by Enfield windows was in the North London area. We were recommended to the customer by the prestigious high-end building company, A&R Designs.

The brief for A&R Designs was to create a contemporary modern extension using high quality products throughout. Enfield Windows were first invited to the property to examine the initial requirements and to understand exactly what the client wanted to achieve.

At the rear of the property, the client wanted a large four-part set of Origin Aluminium bifold doors, opening up into the garden. They also wanted three Origin windows running down the side access, which were all part of the new extension.

In the hallway, to keep in tune with the original theme, the client opted to use the Residence 9 Window, a stunning timber replica totally maintenance free while not compromising on the features you would expect from a traditional looking window.

The internal front door was to be replaced using the Masterdor, an engineered factory finished timber door. This product is fast becoming the new alternative to uPVC composite doors.

The measurements were taken, and a fully detailed quotation was sent within 48 hrs.

The client accepted our competitive quote. They then visited the showroom to view all the products and get a firm feel for the quality each item offered.

While at the showroom the client had decided to install the Origin blinds. These are electronically operated blinds and are a great addition to any Origin product. Controlled using a compact remote, they can function independently or in tandem. They not only offer shade and privacy but add a real wow factor to any windows or doors and come in over 200 fabric ranges ensuring a match for any scheme.

Installation

After completing the contract and finalising the details, a survey was carried out. Within three weeks, the majority of the products were installed as and when  the building contractor required them.

The whole installation ran smoothly and efficiently. All items were installed by our Origin trained fitters, and the completed pictures show how the products add to the overall quality of finish to the stunning new extension.

Internal view of conservatory

Conservatory installation in Ware, Hertfordshire

Our most recent Conservatory installation took place in Ware, Hertfordshire.

We were recommended to our client by the high end Hertfordshire based building company Oliver James Construction who specialise in creating modern contemporary living spaces.

The client visited our showroom where the salesman went through specifics for the conservatory including colours, glazing, bi-fold doors and the options for internally glazed blinds.

Once the plans were finalized our sales team in liaison with Atlas, the manufacturers, put together detailed CAD drawings of the proposed space, which gave the client an insight of what would be the finished conservatory.

The colour chosen was RAL 7015 “Slate grey” for the exterior roof lantern and fascias. Internally the skylight lantern was to be white, and glazed using 24mm self-cleaning solar controlled active neutral glass.

The doors were a four part bi-folding system made by Origin who supply high quality windows & doors. They offer optional colour-coded or stainless steel handles hinges, colour-coded anti finger pinch gaskets and the accredited SBD Secured by design police approved locks. These are all covered with a twenty year peace of mind manufacturers guarantee.

Glazed in the bi-folds were 28mm argon filled electrically operated blinds which were hard wired to the mains and operated by remote control. This stunning addition gave the perfect wow factor to the project whilst also closing off the south facing garden at the press of a button.

Installation

Enfield windows part in the project was carried out over four separate days. The first two were spent on the installation of the conservatory followed by the bi-fold doors and then finally installing and wiring the electric blinds.

The client was overwhelmed with this stunning addition to their property. The pictures show how these new living spaces are fast becoming the modern day conservatory design.

Timber bifold door installation in Ealing

Bifold door installation in Ealing, London

One of our recent timber bi-folding door projects was in the Ealing area of London.

The client had found pictures of our timber door range whilst searching Google images. After looking at our website, the clients requested a timber bi-folding door made using timber hardwood.

What makes Enfield Windows doors different from market alternatives is the timber we use. It is supplied in either Baltic Pine, Oak or the more popular hardwood. Everything is engineered cross grained, which helps the door resist against warping, twisting or swelling. This is unlike many other timber doors, which are often crafted using a single piece of timber.

Along with the fully engineered doors and frame is the unique two week factory finished spraying process. This takes place in airtight, chemical state of the art spray booths giving a perfectly even finish every time.

The glazing consists of 24mm toughened Argon filled double glazed units which also offer a low U-value of 1.2.

After the quotation was given and accepted we then carried out a detailed site survey where the aperture finished floor levels and opening configurations were checked and confirmed.

The next stage was to process the order and issue the client with a detailed CAD drawing (as above) to show every detail. This is a design specification we carry out for all of our timber products once an order is confirmed.

The lead time for our timber windows and doors is approximately six to eight weeks from survey. The installation was booked in with the customer two weeks prior to delivery. It was carried out in one day by our very own skilled timber team who carry out all of our timber installations in and around the north and central London areas.

As the pictures above show, these are stunning timber bifold doors, beautifully built and finished.

Our next Timber Installation will be in the Knebworth area in the coming week where we will be installing matching timber bi-folds and French doors.

Six part bifold door installation

Bifold door installation in Fulham, London

Enfield Windows recently installed an immaculate set of Origin Bi-folding doors to a property in Fulham, London.

BTL property services were undertaking a complete refurbishment of the property and the bi-fold doors were to be a key aspect of the renovation. Spanning over 5.6 metres, these six part doors covered the entire rear of the property.

BTL property services have offices based in Fulham and Chelsea and are a specialist high end refurbishment and building company. Their attention to detail they offer is second to none. Enfield Windows have worked on projects previously, supplying and installing products and we are pleased to say we have built a good relationship.

The original doors to be replaced were also aluminium but of a lesser quality which caused the client many issues.

With bi-folding doors the key thing to remember is the quality and strength of the brand. Origin are arguably the leading bi-fold door manufacturers in the UK. With a state of the art facility they are able to turn around their doors within five working days, an industry first.

Along with the speed of manufacturing, Origin are able to offer a twenty year guarantee on all working parts of their bifold doors. This is a testament to the quality of build and parts that are used in constructing these beautiful doors.

This particular set was to be manufactured in the ever popular Anthracite Grey. The client opted for standard handles, hinges and gaskets although Origin do offer colour coded or stainless steel plus the optional colour coded gaskets.

Installation

After survey was complete the doors were ordered and installed the following week by our two full time trained Origin installers.

As the pictures show, our one day installation was completed successfully and the client was over the moon with the new doors and the smooth ease with which they operated.

Bifold doors and skylight installation in Southgate, north London

Atlas sky light and Origin bi-fold door installation

Enfield windows recently under took an installation in Southgate, north London. We had been recommended to the customer by D.G.R Carpentry & Building, who use Enfield windows for many of their building projects.

The client’s aim was extend the rear of their property in order to create a new open plan kitchen diner. However they were conscious of the amount of light that would be available due to limited window space.

The solution was to install a modern contemporary skylight onto the flat roof which would enable light to flood into the rear end of the extension.

At Enfield windows we supply and install Atlas skylights. Unlike many roof lights on the market, Atlas skylights are fully aluminium and the roof bars have a sleek width of only 40mm which is something UPVC skylights can’t replicate.

The average roof bar on similar UPVC skylights is 60mm and in some cases 70mm. Also due to the design and strength in the structure there are no large bulk heads where the frames meet to a joint.

Atlas skylights are a great product that offers stylish and slim lines every time. Double glazed glass is standard, plus there is the option of triple glazed units. All glazing is self-cleaning and climate controlled glass in either Active blue or Neutral finishes.

Origin Bifold doors

A five part set of doors were chosen to run across the entire width of the extension in the ever popular Anthracite grey.

For those seeking to install bi-fold doors, Origin has become the leading brand and popular choice amongst many high end glazing companies who are striving to offer their clients the very best in bi-folding doors.

The majority of door manufacturers will only offer a ten year guarantee, but with Origin a twenty year guarantee is standard when installed by a qualified Origin installer. This guarantee covers all working parts – handles, hinges and locks which prove the build quality really is second to none.

Not only are these doors well engineered and aesthetically pleasing, the options Origin offer are unlike many other manufactures. There is a choice of colour coded or stainless steel handles and hinges and they also offer colour coded Q-Lon gaskets. These neatly hug around the frame of each door leaf. This advanced gasket has a foam filled centre unlike the rubber seals on other doors giving the doors a guaranteed tight snug seal every time they shut whilst also eliminating the natural compression and break down that often occurs on dense rubber seals.

As the pictures show, the doors and skylight are an integral part of the extension, flooding the room with light and creating a modern contemporary feel.

In our show room we have on display a fully working three and four part door along with the full origin colour and furniture range.

Grey corner bifold door installation

Corner bifold door installation in Muswell Hill, London

Enfield Windows – the bifold door experts

Enfield windows latest corner bi-fold door project was to replace the client’s old timber doors with a more modern contemporary maintenance free product.

After an initial enquiry was made via our web site, we were invited to the client’s property to discuss the product, material, colour and glazing requirements for the project.

The doors being replaced were one section of three parts. These were situated alongside a larger three and four part part set that cohesively worked as one, creating a large open corner space.

With such a vast span of glazed walling the glass specification had to be highly efficient during colder months of the year.

Pilkington Glass

Pilkington K Glass™ S is the latest high performance, low-emission soft coated product which offers excellent thermal insulation when incorporated within an Insulating Glass Unit (IGU). It has a highly neutral appearance with optimal solar heat gain, thermal insulation and light transmission to provide the highest Window Energy Rating (WER) performance.

For a door set with a span such as this and with so many moving parts the best choice for material was aluminium. With strong frames and sashes and the equally strong running gears, not only is this a great low maintenance modern material but it’s contemporary look and perfect straight lines completely enhances any area it is situated in.

After going though Origins stock choice of colours that include Slate grey, Black grey, Anthracite Grey and black or white, the slightly lighter Slate grey was chosen. Origin offer up to 200 colour combinations from the RAL colour chart.

Furniture was next area to be decided on. Originally the order placed was for black hinges and gaskets with a stainless steel handle. During the ordering process a member of our installations team called the client to suggest that colour coded gaskets and stainless hinges would be a better choice for the overall look and finish to which the customer agreed and the order was placed.

The diary was space was allocated and within three weeks of our survey the project was completed. During the first day of installation our three highly skilled installers removed and replaced all the doors! This allowed our team to spend the second day carrying out the final detailed trimming and finishing which along with installing itself is key to the overall look.

White bifolding doors

Double glazing and bifold door installation in Winchmore Hill

Design

Enfield Windows were recently awarded the contract to replace the windows, bifold doors and a skylight to an address in Winchmore Hill, north London. We had been busy liaising with the customer and the developer to make sure of their specific requirements for the project.

Installation

Enfield windows part of the project was planned over three stages, and each stage went perfectly as planned.

Stage one – Window replacement

The first stage was the installation of twelve windows throughout the property replacing the old single glazed timber frames. It was decided that we should use the Duraflex Upvc profile with leaded glass to match the existing windows. With the added touch of equal sight-line frames and safety features like child restrictor hinges in all bedrooms, this helped to transform the property’s look from old to new.

The replacement  of the windows not only offers the customer maintenance-free frames  but they also help the house perform better during summer and winter months due to the high performance  of the ‘A rated’ argon glazing units and the five chambered windows.

Stage two – Bifold door installation

The second stage of the installation of two sets of brilliant white Origin Easi-fold doors, one of which was three part and the other four part. These looked onto the garden and form part of the new kitchen dinner. As you can see from the pictures, these beautiful doors certainly add the wow factor and finishing touch to what will be a modern family living space bringing the garden into the home. With the height standing at 2.4 meters high, 300mm above the standard height door they certainly give the feeling of open space to the rooms when fully opened.

Stage three – Skylight

The final stage was the installation of a skylight. Above the dining room set of bifold doors is a  2m x 1.5m Ultraframe roof lantern skylight with toughened ‘active blue’ Pilkington glass. This addition not only floods the space with light but also adds  great impact and character to a stunning dining area and is certainly a great addition to any room.

Conclusion

The project was managed throughout with no corners cut to provide the customer and developer with exactly what they had envisaged. The total installation was carried out over six days with our installers carrying out each stage in an organised and professional manner. As you can see the final pictures speak for themselves. This large renovation project certainly added to the house becoming what it is now, a stunning contemporary modern family home with the added benefits of warmth and security.

Bifold doors open

Bifold door installation in London

One of our most recent projects was the undertaking of a large 6 part Set of Origin Bifolding doors with matching side lights and kitchen window. The client was spending a large amount of money on a high end kitchen refit. With the benefit of already having a large structural opening in situ the focus then turned to what could compliment the new kitchen design. To make the best use of the potentially large open space occupied by the current French doors and windows, after viewing some installations and reading through our web site a phone call was made, and we were invited to quote for the works.

On the first visit to the property we were told we were one of few local suppliers quoting for the contract. After going through various configuration options and discussing the products that would suit and ultimately make the best use of the potential space on offer it was decided the Origin easi fold doors would give the uniformed look the customer wanted to achieve. The perfect clinical profiles you get with aluminium products made them the ideal choice.

Design

The clients requested we remove the French door and windows, whilst also removing the brickwork under the windows to create a level surface running around the entire area.
After showing the client a CAD design of how the doors and windows would look, we went through the dimensions to determine the depth of the folds to neatly tuck into the recess either side of the wall. The decision was made, an internally opening six fold system with two side return windows replicating the doors themselves. With a white gloss finish inside and out, matching hardware and gaskets the order was placed, surveyed and signed off into production.

Installation

The installation took place over two days. We assigned two teams to ensure a smooth installation due to the amount of work involved. We had a one day window to secure the property after the opening had been prepared.

Day one

The objective was to remove the old timber frames and grind out the brickwork below the windows. We then had to install a 100mm thick steel RSJ which ran across the entire width of the doors to be supported by the load bearing corner posts and steel packers. This was a necessary precaution due to the timber construction of the roof and certainly would eliminate any risk of the framework above warping, moving or sagging over the coming years. This would inevitably affect the operation and functionality of the doors and potentially cause major disruption in future.

Day two

Our two teams concentrated on setting up the six doors to ensure the smooth gliding and locking operation associated with the Origin easi-fold system. There was also the kitchen window to be installed, plaster boarding, plastering, cleaning and sealing. We pride ourselves on the quality of our fitters and the speed at which they work.

Conclusion

As you can see from the pictures above we can’t imagine any products other than bifold doors occupying the space. They really do compliment a wonderfully modern kitchen and their functionality make the best use of the space available. The satisfied customer has the option to use the bifold system as French doors and open either side. However, it’s when the doors are fully folded back the connection to the garden and sense of openness really stands out. Bi-folding doors are such a great product for consumers and developers wishing to create an open contemporary space.

Origin bifold door installation exterior

Origin Bifold Door Installation

Enfield windows very recently installed a set of Origin 4 part aluminium bi folding doors to a newly constructed extension in the Enfield area. This particular set were manufactured in a non-stock colour, 7031. Origin’s current lead time for primary stock colours is a five working day turnaround. For a non-stock colour they still have an industry leading turn around of twenty-one days.

The client, in this case, opted for a non-traffic door with the four folds all stacking over to one side. With this option, there is no need for lever handles. The doors are operated simply by rotating the ultra slim lever which in turn operates the dead bolts into the top and bottom of the frame.

Once the doors were installed our delighted customer could finally envisage a large part of how their new kitchen would appear when completed.  Their new doors will integrate the living space into the garden. This was a large part of what they wanted to achieve when first setting out to create a new open living space in their home.
