Timber windows and doors installation in Epping

Stunning period timber windows and doors installation in Epping

As good as new – but even better! That’s our verdict on Enfield Windows’ latest installation, which we are proud to share on our blog.

Our client found us during a search online as he was looking for timber windows and doors to install on his stunning period cottage in Epping.

The very next day after his email inquiry, the client received a site visit from our sales rep. The brief was to replicate the property’s original windows, like-for-like, using high performance engineered timber.

Strength and Durability

Our timber is among the very best on the market, and is created using state of the art CNC precision machinery. Under this system, hardwood is engineered, giving greater strength and durability over many joiner-made windows and doors formed using a single timber piece.

It is the specialist spray booths that give each and every product a flawless finish. The glazing consists of a 24mm argon-filled unit made up of a 4mm internal pane, 16mm warm edge spacer bar and a further 4mm outer pane as standard.  However, we can offer laminate-toughened and a variety of acoustic glazing applications, which are available on request.

Matching original designs

Many bespoke designs can be replicated using the in-house CAD system that adapts the manufacturing process to match original windows and doors including curved sashes, stepped arch heads and many more designs.

On this order, our detailed quotation was submitted and quickly accepted, and on receipt of a 25% deposit our head surveyor made a full site inspection to gather accurate dimensions of all the windows and doors that were to be replaced.

Like-for-like replacement

Most of them went straight to processing and manufacturing, although the angled and more technical part of the project required full CAD drawings to be re-checked on site prior to production.

During the eight-week lead time, we confirmed our client’s choice of door and window handles and a pre-installation date was scheduled. Carried out over five days in total, the finished result is a truly amazing like-for-like replacement. The property has retained its original look, while benefitting from thermally-efficient and more secure windows.

Hampstead white timber bifold doors

Timber bi-fold French doors, windows and skylight installation in Hampstead

Enfield Windows recently installed timber bi-fold French doors, windows and a skylight to this stunning property in the leafy London suburb of Hampstead.

Our client found us after searching online for “timber windows and doors north London.”  His most important condition was to retain the character of his home by installing timber units.

Many of the original windows were still in place, so adding uPVC window frames would have ruined the look and character of a house of this quality.

After sending over our fully detailed quotation and CAD drawings, the client decided to make a visit to our showroom where we have numerous timber windows and doors on display, along with an Atlas roof lantern.

Placing the Order

Our client was impressed by the quality and finish of the products and confirmed his order and contract. The following week our in-house surveyor went through all the details to arrange production of the new fittings, which included angular windows to be sited above the bi-folding doors.

Our timber products currently run on a six to eight-week lead time, as each bespoke product is carefully crafted using the latest state of the art CNC machinery. All finishes are carried out in moisture and dust resistant booths and finished using “Remmers” micro-porous paints.

Two weeks prior to delivery, the installation was scheduled in with the builder and our client.

On the first day, the installers fitted the new angled windows above the bi-fold doors and the Atlas roof lantern. On day two the upper windows were installed.  These were casement style with Georgian glazing bars. On the third and final day of installation we fitted the stunning bi-folding doors and French doors.

Value of timber

As the pictures show, the renovation was a great success and the windows and doors have contributed to a clean and bright new look. This installation was a classic example of how the use of quality timber products will enhance and add value to a property – something that is rarely achieved by using cheaper uPVC or aluminium.

On properties such as this, making the extra commitment to install timber windows and doors gives back the character and quality many homes have lost since the uPVC surge of the 1980s. In recent years, timber has made a huge comeback on period properties and with reputable suppliers using the finest production and finishing methods, your home makeover can be truly stunning.

Timber windows and French doors in Finsbury Park, north London

Our most  recent timber window installation took place in the leafy Finsbury park area in north London.

Our customer contacted Enfield windows after a builder’s recommendation who maintains the property. The client currently rents out the flats so he wasn’t able to be present during the sale or installation process. All correspondence was carried out via telephone and email.

We were handed the keys and invited to visit the property and carry out a full site survey of the windows and doors that needed replacing. There was a variety of windows and doors that required replacement including timber sash and casement windows and french door sets and single doors.

After a proposal was sent and the project cost was agreed, CAD drawings were provided to the client as there were specific arch details and Astragal glazing bar layouts included in some of the frames.

By providing the CAD drawings the client was able to see in detail how the products would look before the order was sent to production.

During the six to eight week manufacturing process the installation was scheduled into our diary.

The installation was carried out over a four day period and as the pictures show it is another stunning installation using the very best timber windows within the market.

Our latest timber sash replacement window project was in the Harringay area of north London. Our client had recently moved to the area and after purchasing the property a new roof, new heating system and replacement windows were a priority.

The first point of contact was via our website and a consultation was scheduled by a member of the office to meet and discuss various options for the rear windows. The client also wanted to change her old timber French doors leading into the garden to timber with a panelled detail section at the bottom and an opening fan window above.

Whilst on the sales visit the client mentioned she was having the front windows replaced in timber with a quotation agreed by a supplier. Our sales representative offered to show the client our timber brochure and pictures from some of our recent timber installations with a view to offering a no obligation quote to try and better the original price she had received.

With the dimensions and specifics taken now for the both the front and rear windows our sales representative went away to accurately cost the windows required. A proposal was sent along with many production photos showing the complete process in which our timber sash windows are constructed and painted.

Huge savings!

As a result, Enfield Windows were able to save the client over a thousand pounds INCLUDING the three additional rear windows and the French door in the price!

A further visit to the showroom was arranged where the client requested to view the windows she would be purchasing for the front aspect of the property.
Once the order was confirmed the survey was scheduled to take the final and accurate dimensions for manufacturing. With only a six week lead time an installation date was agreed and the all the windows were installed over a five day period.

We are happy to say that the client was thrilled with her new windows and the service provided by Enfield Windows.
