Timber bifold doors, French doors and apex windows installation in Enfield
By Enfield Windows
There’s a lot of truth in the old saying “the proof is in the pudding” when it comes to replacement windows and doors made of the best quality timber. Or maybe we should say the proof is in the product!
The argument that uPVC is better than wood because it doesn’t require constant upkeep is now a thing of the past, thanks to modern manufacturing methods. These days, engineered multi-layered timber and state-of-the-art spray booths applying several layers of paint and fungal treatment, guarantee many years of maintenance-free life for timber windows and doors.
Top quality on offer
This latest job for Enfield Windows is a classic example of how an older property can be enhanced and given added value by using top quality materials in preference to cheaper alternatives.
Our clients contacted us online with a rough sketch and approximate dimensions of the windows and doors they wanted in the planned extension to their home in Enfield, North London. Their priority was to match, as far as possible, the new windows and doors with the existing windows at the back of the house.
Full survey and plans
After a full survey and deposit payment we set about offering a full written quotation with images, including products requested, details of colour and finish, opening directions, hardware specifications and the various options for glazing bars and door panel heights.
Our in-house surveyor has over 25 years’ experience and part of his routine includes checking floor levels to ensure that a non-hazardous threshold is achieved along with any materials fitting instructions. All this was then translated into computer-aided design, or CAD, drawings for complete accuracy. Once the CAD drawings were produced the clients were offered a final chance to make any amendments before manufacturing began.
Bespoke manufacturing
This usually takes 8 to 10 weeks, as the construction of timber windows and doors generally takes longer than those made of uPVC or aluminium. This is down to the skill and craftsmanship involved in making these bespoke products, including the longer spraying and drying time for the numerous coats of micro-porous paint.
The installation was carried out over two days by our skilled team here at Enfield Windows. As we said at the start, timber windows and doors are a superior product to synthetic alternatives and the proof is in the pictures of this lovely extension, which has transformed the look of the house.
