Beautifully made and installed bifold doors, timber French doors and casement windows in Bengeo, Hertfordshire
By Enfield Windows
Enfield Windows takes pride in working alongside top-quality local builders, creating homes with that extra wow factor, and this latest project is a great example of what can be achieved by close co-operation.
The location was in part of the historic old parish of Bengeo, in Hertfordshire, which was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. The client had commissioned a full refurbishment of his elegant home, including the construction of a new extension, from our partner builders Hatch Construction. Over the past few years, Enfield Windows has carried out many installations with this building company, which has gained a reputation for high-end construction and finishing, using superior products and materials.
Aluminium and natural timber windows and doors
Working with Hatch Construction, our task was to supply and fit new doors and windows using two different materials, aluminium and timber. Starting with the new extension on the lower level, we fitted two “Origin” 3-part aluminium bi-folding doors with colour-coded handles, hinges and gaskets, plus a large triple window to mimic the bi-folds and finally a floor-to-ceiling fixed angle window.
Origin is an industry-leading brand within the aluminium market, offering a wide variety of products including entrance doors, windows, patio sliding doors and the ever-popular bi-folding doors. Each product offers matching hardware options and a no-quibble 20-year warranty, setting Origin well above the industry standard 10-year guarantee.
Dual colour option
The casement windows and French doors, meanwhile, were constructed in top-quality timber and painted in two colours, slate grey on the outside and white inside. We find that clients are increasingly choosing dual colour windows and doors which, though a bit more expensive, offer the chance to modernise the external appearance while retaining white inside for a bright and airy look. We also added a Georgian glazing detail at the top of each frame to enhance their appearance. Finally, the French doors to the upper bedroom were installed to open inwards with a glazed Juliet balcony outside.
Enfield Windows’ installation took four days, with our team of craftsmen carefully following the builder’s specification, leaving the job clean, tidy and flawless. As the pictures demonstrate, a bit of imagination with the colour scheme of our windows and doors takes the property to a whole new level.
