One of the major building developments of the past few years has been the trend for opening up ground floor rooms with bi-folding doors to create a “garden room” effect. It’s a trend that we at Enfield Windows have exploited to the full and made one of our specialities — and we are proud to present this recent example.
Our clients in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, were having an extension to create a new kitchen and dining area, leading on to a covered patio, with bi-fold doors that would open on two sides of the room for a wide, open plan feeling.
Our clients knew the kind of design they wanted and by searching images online they found our website.
Traditional and secure
Enfield Windows’ timber range of hardwood doors are a stunning example of blending traditional doors with today’s modern advantages. These include multilayered engineered hardwood timber, 24mm argon-filled glazing and a robust specialist locking system by FUHR that comes with the “Secured by Design” stamp of approval endorsed by the police.
Every door set we produce is bespoke and tailor-made for the project. Design and glazing requests are followed by the most detailed computer-aided drawings before production can begin.
Once the drawings are approved the order goes from raw material through state-of-the-art machinery which cuts each section of engineered timber to pin-point accuracy ready for assembly.
Range of colours
Paint is then applied in a sealed and dust-free spray booth which ensures a flawless finish. We provide many colour options from the vast RAL colour chart, or for a more period look we can offer Farrow & Ball. For those who prefer a natural timber appearance, there’s a wide range of wood stains.
The final phase of production is the factory glazing where all units are sealed ready for packaging then shipped to our premises ready for installation.
As these photographs show, the bi-fold doors that Enfield Windows installed at our client’s home in Stevenage were designed to blend perfectly with the colour and style of the house and existing windows. As a result, the family can make the most of all the seasons: single door access in the cold and wet, but all doors open wide and fully folded back for those long summer evenings in the garden.
