Origin windows and bifold doors installation in Hertford
By Enfield Windows
Enfield Windows are proud of our position as a leading independent seller of windows and doors, sourcing our stock from high-end brands throughout the industry. Today’s story is a great example of how we work with local partners to deliver top-quality installations.
We were asked to quote for this project in Hertford by Hatch Construction, a local company specialising in large extensions and refurbishments. Enfield Windows have built up a trusted relationship with Hatch over many years, and we are now their first call for all their glazing requirements.
Product and quality
To get the best result, we needed the best materials. Origin is a product that needs little introduction and was the chosen choice for all the windows and doors on this project. Origin has a well-known and trusted worldwide profile that offers sleek finishes and the very best in performance and security.
For the roof lights, Titan Edge is one of the industry’s leading roof light and lantern suppliers. It’s manufactured using the best thermally efficient glazing and powder-coated aluminium frames.
Quote to contract
Working off the architect’s plans and the client’s specifications, we set about formalising a quotation to supply and install three roof lights, three sliding patio doors, French doors and numerous windows. The colour chosen by the client was to be Jet Black RAL9005 inside and out. We find that homeowners are increasingly opting for a change from the typical market of white upvc. Grey or black windows fit this trend perfectly, especially when installed in conjunction with stained cedar cladding, as in this case.
Once the quotation was finalised the project cost was agreed and we set about producing a contract that clearly indicated all the project details, including the opening directions of doors, window formations, hardware choices and all glazing specifications.
Survey and installation
The survey was carried out by our own full-time surveyor, who has gained a wealth of knowledge from over 25 years in the glazing industry, including working as an installer in the early part of his career. This enables our surveyor to look at all aspects of the project, not only from a surveying perspective but also from the practicalities of installation.
Finished floor levels are an essential part of new build projects, as many clients are looking for a seamless low threshold with no unsightly trip hazards and cumbersome frames which aesthetically break the flow from inside to outside.
We worked alongside the builder and client to agree on the final finished floor level. Then, we set about using laser measurers and digital readers to ensure that, on installation, the threshold is as low as possible.
Installation times are calculated using our own experience and planning based on what our full-time installers, working solely for Enfield Windows, can sensibly achieve day by day. This ensures that our teams are not chasing to install numerous items daily but taking their time to carry out an expert job to the highest standards.
Transformation completed
As you can see from the photographs, the project overall was a great success. The property has not only been modernised throughout but transformed into a stunning contemporary-style home with a light and airy feel. The large sliding doors at the rear transform the space and are a dominant feature, connecting house to garden. The house not only looks terrific but now boasts the very best in secure and thermally efficient glazing.
