Timber doors and windows installation in Kings Cross
Enfield Windows is happy to take on any task, big or small – and they don’t come much bigger than this one.
Our most recent commission was to supply and fit new timber windows and doors to this large, elegant townhouse in Kings Cross, central London, as part of a major overhaul to convert the building into several apartments.
We have carried out many successful projects for the main contractor over the past few years, so we were delighted to be brought in on this one.
And what a job! We were tasked to replace twenty-two sash windows, seven casement-style windows and seven sets of doors, all manufactured in Meranti engineered hardwood.
The manufacturing process
The process is a complex one, involving several stages, to achieve the highest possible standard. Engineered timber is made up of cross-grained and glued sections, giving the wood great strength, which also resists warping and twisting.
The frames are then spray painted in airtight booths, starting with a base primer coat containing preservative and followed by three coats of breathable micro-porous paint for a flawless finish.
Just like the originals
The windows and doors that we supply and fit are fully in keeping with the original appearance of the properties we work on, so we always make sure the “look” is correct.
The frames replicate the original timber, but with the bonus of modern build quality and new glazing technology.
Enfield Windows’ in-house team of expert fitters carried out this project at Kings Cross within twelve days and the pictures show just how good the replacement windows and doors look.
